What happens if my daughter does not have her medical forms turned in?

The Texas Volleyball Camp must have all medical forms on file before your daughter can participate in camp, no exceptions. This is a University of Texas at Austin mandate, not just a camp policy. Please bring a copy of your medical forms to check-in to avoid any surprises of lost or unreceived forms.

Dorms

What will my daughter need at the dorm?

All campers will need bed linens for an extra-long twin bed as well as a pillow. Linens can be purchased from the Dobie Center front desk for $15 ( subject to change by Dobie). Your daughter will also need toiletries and towels. Please see the Navigation Menu on the left and click on your registered camp for a more detailed list of what to bring.

What else should I send with my daughter?

Campers sometimes bring appropriate games, cards, mp3 players, snacks and drinks to make their stay more comfortable. The dorms will have refregirators. Your camper should also bring an alarm clock. Please remember that the Texas Volleyball Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Will the rooms have phones?

No, the rooms will not have phones and campers are not allowed to plug phones into the Dobie Center outlets. Campers are allowed to bring cell phones; however, they are only permitted to be used in the campers rooms and are not allowed in the gym, the dorm lobby or along the walk to/from the dorms and the gym.

How do I contact my daughter while she is at camp?

You can contact the Texas Volleyball Camp via phone or email. Please see the Navigation Menu on the left and click on Contact Us for our camp contact information. Also, you can call the Dobie Center front desk at 512.505.1000. The front desk will give your message to the camp director.

If it is an emergency, the Dobie Staff has Texas Volleyball Camp staff cell phone numbers and will call them immediately.

Will my child be supervised at the dorm?

Yes! Every camper is assigned to a dorm counselor. Texas Volleyball Camp Staff (camp directors, coaches, counselors, and dorm moms) are housed at Dobie Center. Campers are required to be in there room by 10:00pm. Our staff will do bed checks every night at 10:15pm. We are very serious about the safety of your daughter. Dobie Center also has its own secrutiy staff that monitors the premesis 24 hours/day.

What if I loose my room key or meal band?

Each camper is given a room key and meal band at registration. There is a $20 fee for a lost key and a $5 fee for a lost meal band. Both of these fees are subject to change by Dobie Center. If a camper looses either of these items, please notify the camp director or a dorm mom immediately. The fee to replace a lost key or meal band can be paid to the camp director or a dorm mom. If the camper does not have the money to pay the fee, it will be billed to the parents.

What is the difference between a double room and a suite?

A DOUBLE ROOM will hold two campers and includes a private bath, sink, and refridgerator. A SUITE is two double rooms with an ajoining living room.

The Texas Volleyball Camp does not know how many of each type of room we will have until a few weeks before camp. We cannot guarantee any suitemate requests.

What about roommate requests?

The Texas Volleyball Camp will accept roommate and suitemate requests, but does not guarantee them. All requests must be complete, meaning both roomates or all four suitemates must request only each other.

Rooming assignmetns are done 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the camp session. If your camper is attending as part of an odd number group (3 person roommate request), the camp reserves the right to add a fourth person who did not request a roommate. We will place two people in one room of the siute and the third person will take pot luck in the other room. It is recommended that roommate and suitemate requests register at the same time. Please register early so your session does not fill up and you ensure all requested parties get into camp.

What if a campers assigned roomate does not show up for camp?

After all campers have checked in, we will make every attempt to move your camper in to another room so that she will have a roomate. This can sometimes be difficult because our camps vary in age.

PARENTS

Can parents observe the training sessions?

Yes! Parents are welcome to come watch any training session. Parents are especially invited to come watch the last camp session and closing ceremonies. Please check with your daughter to see what facility she will be in.

Can parents come visit their daughter in the dorm?

Yes, but with some restrictions. Parents are allowed to come visit their daughter in the lobby of the dorm during the breaks between sessions. Parents are not allowed on the dorm floors, in camper's rooms, or in the cafeeteria. Check-In and Check-Out are the only times that the parents will be allowed to go into the rooms. We have found that parents coming to visit their daughters at the dorm during camp is one of the leading causes of homesickness. Camp is a time for your daughter to experience independence and have a great camp experience. We want your daughter to have a positve camp experience and our staff will be there to help if they need to.

PARKING

Please see our website for maps to all Volleyball camp related areas. Please obey all traffic and parking signs while on campus or at Dobie Center. These areas are closely monitored by UTPTS and by the City of Austin. Illegal parking will almost certainly result in a citation, fine, and possibly towing.

Sorry, but the Texas Volleyball Camp cannot provide assistance with appeals for tickets issued by the University of Texas or the City of Austin and will not pay for any citations received while at camp.

Where can I park at Dobie Center?

The best place to park while at Dobie Center is the Dobie Center parking garage, located at 21st Street and Whitis Street, directly across from Dobie Center. Please note this is a pay garage and there is no free parking for camp. Please do not park curbside in "Customer Service Zones" as these spaces are only good for 15 minutes and the City of Austin actively patrols this area.

What about parking on The University of Texas at Austin campus?

Parking for Gregory Gym and the Rec Center on the UT Campus requires a permit. The campus is closely monitored by UTPTS and parking on campus without a permit will result in a citation. At 5:45 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends, parking is open in the surface lots located southeast of the Rec Center in lots 70, 99, and 80. Please read all signs as some spaces are reserved "At All Times". The easiest way to park on campus is by using a parking garage. Manor Garage is located closest to the Rec Center and the Brazos Garage is located closest to Gregory Gym.

Visit the UT Parking and Transportation Services website for more parking information and additional parking options.
